The William Penn Tavern offered a warm friendly neighborhood environment on Christmas night. Located in Shadyside, near that street with all the shops, there weren't many options available.

Fortunately this place was open, and I felt quite at home despite never being there. People seemed quite friendly, their beer selection was decent (not overwhelming), and the ceilings were higher than expected. It had a bit of sportsbar feel but not in an overly obnoxious way(at least for me).

The William Penn is the place to go if you're looking for a more relaxed environment with friendly folks. They pour a nice guiness too!
