comments: Our first time in Atlanta, we had one of those “stop the car!” moments as we passed Beehive, a hip indie craft collective off of Peachtree St. With free parking in back, it was easy to jump in and take a look----I had heard about this indie craft co-op a few years ago and always thought it was a great idea. Walk in, and it’s like Etsy, brought to life, a with everything super cute, crafty, and homemade, with various artist displays set up throughout the shop. Beehive features a bit of everything, from homemade mod dresses and screenprinted onesies to handcrafted jewelry and accessories. Everything is made by (mostly ) local, indie designers, and they now have a sister co-op in New York. It is a little pricier than other boutiques, but hey, it’s all handmade! And, they do have good sales, so keep an eye out. In the backroom, Beehive hosts crafting classes for kids and adults, with classes from crochet to papermaking. And, they have really cool colorful chairs (that’s my kind of classroom). posted: 03/23/2009 11:49 AM by: robeenoo
